MANIFIESTO DE MÉRIDA

Nosotros,  jurados, invitados nacionales e internacionales, participantes y organizadores, de este “Tercer Festival Internacional de Cine y Audiovisual Infantil y Juvenil en Mérida”, Estado Mérida, República Bolivariana de Venezuela.

Considerando que:

1.  Nuestra realidad se entiende a través de múltiples pantallas que influyen en la vida cotidiana.

2. El proceso producción-educación-recepción de los productos audiovisuales debe ser un hecho integral.

3. La libertad de creación debe afianzar la identidad Latinoamericana y Caribeña.

4. Los distintos contextos educativos y formativos deben generar procesos de formación crítica y creativa ante la realidad audiovisual.

5. La Educomunicación es un instrumento para forjar, dinamizar y materializar esta integralidad.

6.  El eje fundamental de la alfabetización audiovisual, es la lectura y escritura de los medios y tecnologías de información y comunicación.

7. Existe un universo heterogéneo de festivales y experiencias Educomunicativas en nuestras regiones.

Proponemos:

1. Consolidar la plataforma Latinoamericana y Caribeña "Pablo Ramos Rivero" de formación audiovisual.

2. Incentivar redes de intercambio para visibilizar experiencias y producciones ya existentes y futuras.

3. Que nuestros gobiernos tomen conciencia de la necesidad de asumir la voluntad política de respaldar estas iniciativas.

4. Establecer vínculos de cooperación Sur-Sur con iniciativas afines a los objetivos planteados.

5. Promover un cronograma itinerante de reuniones de la plataforma, que a corto plazo se establecen, en el marco del Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano en la Habana 2013, y en el African Cradle Festival en Johannesburgo 2014.

6. Integrar equipos de trabajo con representantes de nuestros gobiernos,  de las distintas entidades regionales y miembros de la plataforma.

7. El resultado del trabajo compartido sea la obtención de financiamiento, logística y legislación.

En conclusión, EXHORTAMOS a nuestros gobiernos y autoridades regionales, a que intervengan activamente en la concreción de estos objetivos.

MERIDA MANIFESTO

We, the jury, the national and international guests, participants and organizers of the "Third International Film and Audiovisual Festival for Children and Youth" in the State of Mérida, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Considering that:


1. Our reality is understood through multiple film screens that influence our everyday life.

2. The production-education-receiving process of audiovisual products should be a comprehensive fact.

3. The free creation must strengthen Latin American and Caribbean identity.

4. The educational contexts should generate a critical and creative training in face to the visual reality.

5. The Educommunication is a tool to build, motivate and materialize.

6. The reading and writing of informational and communicational technologies as well as media is the principal focus of the audiovisual literacy.

7. Our regions are enriched by Educommunicative and heterogeneous festivals as well as experiences.

We propose: 

1. To consolidate the Audiovisual Latin American and Caribbean training platform "Paul Ramos Rivero"

2. To encourage the creation of exchangeable networks to visualize previous and future experiences as well as productions.

3. To our government, be more aware of the need to have the political will that will support these initiatives.

4. To establish a South-South link with initiatives related to the formulated objectives.

5. To create an itinerant schedule of meetings of the platform, that will be established in short term, in the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana (2013) and the African Cradle Festival in Johannesburg (2014).

6. To integrate different teams with representative of our governments, regional and individual members of the platform.

7. The result of the shared work is obtaining financing, logistics and legislation.

In conclusion, we URGE our governments and regional authorities, to intervene actively in the realization of these objectives.

¡Un hasta luego a nuestro hermano eterno, Pablo Ramos!

El III FICAIJ se viste de luto por la sensible desaparición física, el día viernes 24 de mayo en horas de la noche, del Dr. Pablo Ramos, creador-fundador de la RED UNIVERSO AUDIOVISUAL DEL NIÑO/A LATINOAMERICANO (UNIAL), adscrita al Instituto de la Cultura y de las Artes Cinematográficas (ICAIC), con sede en La Habana, Cuba.

Nuestro estimado amigo y compañero, aliado y apoyo importante de esta Institución, falleció por causas naturales en la Ciudad de Mérida, Venezuela, en donde participó previamente como Jurado del III FICAIJ (Festival Internacional de Cine y Audiovisual Infantil y Juvenil) y ponente del I Encuentro Internacional de Educación para los Medios (En el marco del FICAIJ). 

Allí demostró gran pasión por el trabajo que le correspondió realizar. Estuvo "muy feliz por regresar a nuestra Ciudad luego de muchos años", rodeado de niños y jóvenes que le recuerdan hoy como "Papá Pitufo", tal y como él se llamó en uno de los encuentros del Festival.

Reconocemos desde FICAIJ la importante labor de nuestro amigo, Dr. Pablo Ramos, que desarrolló una importante labor en pro de la infancia y la juventud latinoamericana; además de una brillante carrera universitaria como docente, investigador y conferencista en Universidades e Instituciones Educativas en Cuba, Venezuela y toda América Latina.

Los restos del compañero estarán en la Funeraria del Hospital Militar, en Caracas, desde hoy 26 de mayo, a las 7 pm, hasta mañana 27 de mayo, a las 10 am. Desde acá nuestro más respetuoso saludo y nuestro sincero acompañamiento a todos los familiares y amigos.

A bid farewell to our brother, Pablo Ramos!

The III FICAIJ mourns for the PhD. Pablo Ramos sensitive passing away on Friday May 24 at night, creator and also founder of the Audiovisual Universe of the Latin-American Children network (UNIAL, in Spanish) attached to the Institute of Culture and Arts Motion (ICAIC), headquartered in Havana, Cuba.

Our beloved friend, ally and important support of this Institution, died of natural causes in the city of Merida, Venezuela, where he previously participated as Jury in the III FICAIJ and speaker of the First International Encounter of Media Education. Where he showed great passion for the work he was asked to do. As he said, he was "very happy to return to our city after many years", surrounded by children and young people, that remember him as "Papa Smurf", as he called himself in one of the meetings of the Festival.

FICAIJ recognizes the important work of our friend, the PhD. Pablo Ramos, who developed an important work on behalf of children and youth in Latin America; In addition to a brilliant academic career as a teacher, researcher and lecturer at different Universities and Educational Institutions in Cuba, Venezuela and throughout Latin America.

The remains of our friend will be in the Funeral Home of the Military Hospital in Caracas, from today May 26, at 7 pm, until tomorrow May 27, at 10 am. 

From here, we send our most respectful greetings and our sincere support to all his family and friends.

PONENCIAS DEL I ENCUENTRO INTERNACIONAL DE EDUCACIÓN PARA LOS MEDIOS (Parte IV)

Como parte del I Encuentro Internacional de Educación para los Medios “Procesos de formación cinematográfica y audiovisual para las infancias”

Resumen de la ponencia: Actualmente frente a los cambios que se han presentado en los distintos planos de la sociedad moderna del siglo XXI,  se hace necesario reflexionar críticamente acerca de las dificultades inéditas que se presentan hoy para comprender un discurso cinematográfico o audiovisual dirigido a las infancias, de allí se hace necesario plantear un proceso formativo donde se intervenga el escenario y se profundice en el contenido de los materiales audiovisuales para los infantes.

Dicha ponencia fue dictada por Yluhibeth Ortiz. Ella es Técnico Superior en Publicidad, mención Mercadeo (2003), Coordinadora de la Plataforma de Cine y Medios Audiovisuales del Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Cultura en Monagas ( 2008 – 2012) Productora General de las producciones comunitarias “Tiempos Dificiles”(2009), “Enemigo en Casa” (2010)  y “Muñecos de Pantano” (2011), Productora de Campo de Producciones independientes (2010 – 2013) Asistente a la Coordinación de la Plataforma de Cine en Monagas (2007) Productora de Canales de Televisión Regionales (Tu Tv (2003), Monagas Televisión (2005) y Monagas Visión (2007 - 2009). Jurado del 2do. Festival de Cortometrajes “Clemente de la Cerda” (2013), Actualmente es Presidenta de la Fundación Escuela de Cine y Medios Audiovisuales de Oriente (2012), institución que organiza el Festival de Cine Video en Secuencias en Maturín estado Monagas.

Festival de Cine Video en Secuencias:

La Escuela de Cine y Medios Audiovisuales de Oriente, representa un espacio de formación, promoción, difusión y cooperación, estrechamente vinculado a los procesos sociales que busca formar profesionales en el área de la creación audiovisual y cinematográfica; en sus distintos géneros.

Es un proyecto que se viene desarrollando desde el año 2008, sin personalidad jurídica, solo llevando los conocimientos y herramientas necesarias a las comunidades para el creación de obras audiovisuales, sin importar el formato de grabación, creyendo en la creatividad y talento de existentes en las comunidades. En el año 2011, se constituye jurídicamente, para así darle forma al 1er y 2do Festival de Cine Video en Secuencias "una consecuencia", Festival que hoy alcanza la categoría de Nacional, por su complejidad y particular característica; logrando un excelente resultado.

Para este año 2013, continuaremos con el proceso formativo tanto en su reciente sede como en las comunidades e instituciones, públicas y privadas; pues nuestra filosofía es que "la formación garantiza la producción"; a la par organizamos el 3er Festival de Cine Video en Secuencia 2013.

Por su parte, El Profesor de la Escuela de Medios Audiovisuales, Roberto Rojas, contribuyó al Encuentro hablándonos sobre las labores, características e historia de la Escuela de Medios (Universidad de Los Andes) 

Título de la Ponencia: Método de enseñanza audiovisual en la Escuela de Medios Audiovisuales.

Resumen de la Ponencia: La Escuela de Medios Audiovisuales (EMA) de la Universidad de Los Andes es pionera en Venezuela de la formación audiovisual al otorgar la primera licenciatura en medios audiovisuales. Las actividades académicas se basan en la formación teórico práctica, bajo una estructura curricular centrada en talleres.

Reseña Histórica de la EMA 

La larga tradición cinematográfica en el ámbito cultural latinoamericano del Departamento de Cine de la Universidad de Los Andes que nació en 1962, convirtió a Mérida en la capital del cine venezolano. Por tal motivo se firmó en 1991 un convenio entre la Universidad de Los Andes y el Consejo Nacional de la Cultura (CONAC) para la creación de la primera Escuela Universitaria de Cine y Televisión de Venezuela, proyectó que se consolidó con la aprobación por parte del CNU de la Licenciatura en Medios Audiovisuales, el 15 de diciembre de 1995. Finalmente, después de un periodo de preparación, el 18 de noviembre de 1998 se efectuó el acto de apertura oficial por parte de las autoridades universitarias y del Ejecutivo Nacional. 

La Escuela de Medios Audiovisuales se ha consolidado como el centro de enseñanza universitaria más importante de nuestro país con presencia de sus egresados en todas la áreas de los medios audiovisuales tanto locales como nacionales, obteniendo estos reconocimientos por su calidad y excelente preparación en búsqueda de construir una nueva identidad audiovisual.

Presentation of the 1st International Meeting of Education for the Media. (Part IV)

Presentation’s summary: due to the constant changes which have occurred in the XXI century’s modern society, it is necessary to critically reflect about the inedited difficulties which we have nowadays, in order to understand a cinematographic or audiovisual speech which is directed to children. This is the reason why it is significant to create an educative process where the content of audiovisual material for children could be intervened and analyzed.

Yluhibeth Ortiz was in charge of developing this presentation. She has a degree on Advertising, specialized on Marketing (2003), coordinator of the Cinema and Audiovisual Platform of the Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Cultura in Monagas (2008-2012). General producer of community productions such as “Tiempos Difíciles” (2009), “Enemigo en Casa” (2010) and “Muñecos de Pantano” (2011). Producer of Independent Productions Field (2010-2013).  Assistant of the Cinema Platform Coordination in Monagas (2007). Regional TV channels producer (Tu TV (2003), Monagas Televisión (2005) and Monagas Visión (2007-2009). Jury of the 2nd Short Films Festival “Clemente de la Cerda” (2013). Nowadays, Ortiz is the president of the Fundación Escuela de Cine y Medios Audiovisuales de Oriente (2012), which is the institution that organizes the Film Video Sequence Festival in Maturín, Monagas.

Film Video Sequence Festival:

The Escuela de Cine y Audiovisual de Oriente represents a space of education, spreading and cooperation, closely related to society, which seek to make professionals in the field of audiovisual and cinematographic creation, on its different genres.

It is a project without legal personality, which has been developed since 2008, it is meant to educate communities about the proper knowledge and tools to create audiovisual plays, regardless recording format, but with a strong believe in the creativity and talent of these communities. In 2011, it was legally constituted and as “a consequence”, it performed the 1st and 2nd Film Video Sequence Festival. Nowadays, this festival has a national category, due to its complexity and particularity, and it has accomplished excellent results.

For 2013, we will continue to work on the educative process in its recent venue, communities and private and public schools, since our philosophy is “education guarantees production”. We are also organizing the 3rd Film Video Sequence Festival, in 2013.

Professor Roberto Rojas, from the Audiovisual Media School of the Universidad de Los Andes, contributed to the meeting by talking about the work, characteristics and history of this school.

Presentation’s summary: the Audiovisual Media School (EMA) of the Universidad de Los Andes is a pioneer in Venezuela on audiovisual education, since it has performed the first degree on audiovisual media. The academic activities are based on theoretical and practical education, through a curricular structure focused on workshops.

EMA’s history:

The long cinematographic tradition in the Latin American cultural field of the Cinema Department of the Universidad de Los Andes was born in 1962, and turned Mérida into the capital of Venezuelan cinema. For this reason, in 1991, an agreement between the Universidad de Los Andes and the National Council for Culture (CONAC) was signed, for the creation of the first Venezuelan University School of Cinema and Television, a project which was consolidated with the CNU approval of the Degree on Audiovisual Media, in December 15, 1995. After a preparation period, in November 18, 1998, the official opening by the university authorities and the national executive power was made.

The Audiovisual Media School has been consolidated as the most important university educative center of our country, since its graduates have had a significant presence in all the audiovisual media fields, locally and nationally, and have obtained awards and recognition due to their quality and excellent education in the continuous search of a new audiovisual identity.
